Abstract
This essay, in the light of the new inscription of the Fasti of Privernum which mentions the dictatura perpetua of Caesar in 44 B.C. and the office of magister equitum perpetuus of Lepidus, examines some of the most controversial points on the constitutional character of roman dictator, and the relationship between Caesar and Cicero.
