«Rinascite della modernità» is a full open-access interdisciplinary Journal (Italian Philology, Italian Literature, History of Political Doctrines), published annually with a double-blind peer review policy, that follows the guidelines developed by the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE).

What does 'Renaissance of Modernity' mean? For the founders of this journal, Modernity is the period between the Middle Ages (from Late Antiquity up to Dante Alighieri) and Contemporary Culture (which can be defined as starting from the Italian Risorgimento). It is a long period, which has been strongly influenced by the Humanistic revolution and its epigones (Renaissance, Enlightenment, etc...).

The term Renaissance, borrowed from critical literature dealing with the rediscovery of the Classical world, refers first to the rediscoveries of authors and works of this period that were previously unpublished or unknown, misinterpreted or censured. But the term Renaissance can also designate a particular moment in the history of a work, that involves new interpretations, new readings, and/or the reuse in the contemporary context of subjects and ideas drawn from 'Modernity' and often involving a modification of the original sense: in the field of the political disciplines in particular, investigation of the fortune of the Moderns in the 19th and 20th centuries is an important means to understanding the history of political thought.

So, the aim of this academic journal is not to collect essays 'on Modernity' but 'on the history of the tradition and fortune' of the authors of European literatures of this period, a history consisting in large part of rediscoveries, and more or less consciously faithful or unfaithful rewritings and interpretations.

A special section of the Journal publishes book reviews and bibliographies, some of which deal with recent new edition of works less known or unknown by scholars.

The Journal welcomes essays in Italian, English, French, Spanish and German. The papers submitted must follow the criteria of originality, methodological correctness both with regard to research procedure and to the presentation of results, and linguistic consistency: the possible impact of the results in the national and international context of studies in the disciplinary sectors will also be evaluated.
