About the Journal
Studi di Glottodidattica is a scientific journal of the Department of Human Research and Innovation at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, which publishes two volumes per year. It aims to disseminate national and international studies from all interdisciplinary fields of study related to language education, the learning and teaching of second and foreign languages, and linguistic and cultural studies.
All submitted articles must undergo the double-blind review process. We recommend that authors follow the author guideline and the ethics code we have compiled, which describe the expectations for the content and scientific quality of the manuscripts. Compliance with these guidelines is taken into account in the review process and in all editorial phases.
Open Access
This journal follows the Open Access model, which allows unrestricted virtual access (without financial barriers) to all scientific texts published by the journal. Open Access is a condition in which the copyright holder of an academic work grants rights of use to third parties via an open licence (Creative Commons Attribution, CC-BY), allowing immediate free access to the work and entitling any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them on as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
Ethics Code
Studi di Glottodidattica is committed to upholding good practises in terms of moral behaviour in the publication of scientific journals, based on the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Code of Conduct, Best Practise Guidelines for Journal Editors. Preventing negligence is also a crucial responsibility of the entire editorial team: any form of unethical behaviour, and plagiarism will not be accepted by the journal under any circumstances. Authors submitting articles to SdG declare that their content is original and guarantee that the work has not been published in another journal or is under review or evaluation.
The journal does not charge any fees for the publication or submission of articles.
ART. 1 VALIDITY
This Code of Ethics is binding for all parties involved — authors, editors, and reviewers — who must understand and comply with the following ethical requirements. It summaries the obligations and duties of editors, members of the various editorial committees, reviewers, and authors.
ART. 2 CONTENT AND SOURCES
Anyone who submits a text for publication on SdG guarantees that:
- the stated author(s) is/are the same as the actual authors of the text, that there are no uncited contributors, and that the stated authors were actually involved in the writing of the text. If other persons were significantly involved in some phases of the research on which the article is based, their contribution has been explicitly recognised in the text;
- that the content of the text is the result of the studies and reflections of the stated authors, and that any contributions from studies by other authors are acknowledged by citations when specific approaches are involved and by inverted commas when the source is cited;
- any disagreements and positions are justified and do not concern the author or the proponents of the disputed theses;
- the texts submitted are original and unpublished; an author may reuse passages or concepts from previous papers; in this case, such reuse must be acknowledged, citing the source;
- The author(s) own(s) the right to publish all parts of the text and any illustrative material. The use of copyrighted material by others must be communicated to the editor-in-chief in advance;
- The submitted manuscript will not be simultaneously reviewed by the review boards of other journals.
Papers for which not all sources are acknowledged or for which the authors have not obtained the necessary permissions may not be published.
The named author(s) take(s) full responsibility, , for the content of the manuscript at all levels.
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obliged to report this immediately and co-operate with the journal to retract or correct the manuscript.
ART. 3 REVIEW PROCESS AND ACCEPTANCE POLICY
The members of the scientific and editorial committees, the editors and the scientific reviewers undertake to work transparently in favour of the promotion of scientific thought and its dissemination.
SdG subjects the contributions received to a double-blind peer review process outside the scientific and editorial committee. The reviewers have no direct contact with the authors and belong to different research institutions than the authors themselves.
The reviewers are required not to accept articles for review if there is a conflict of interest due to previous co-operative or competitive relationships with the author and/or his/her institution.
Peer reviews must be conducted objectively and, can also help the author, to improve their manuscript through editorial communication with the author. The reviewers are obliged to give appropriate reasons for their judgements.
If the reviewers request changes to the article, the author can submit a second version, the acceptance of which also depends on the favourable opinion of the scientific directors and, if applicable, the reviewers.
Articles are published only if they have received favorable reviews from at least two expert reviewers in the field, through an anonymous double-blind peer review process conducted under the responsibility of the journal's Scientific and Editorial Board (editors and editorial board).
The editorial board collaborates in selecting contributions for review, manages communication with authors, sends and receives anonymous reviews, and oversees final editing of contributions.
ART. 4 EDITORS, SCIENTIFIC AND EDITORIAL BOARD
The Editors-in-Chief and the Editorial Board are responsible for deciding whether or not to publish submitted articles.
The Editors-in-Chief and the Editorial Board decide on the acceptance of submitted articles after having the manuscript reviewed by at least two anonymous external reviewers.
The editorial committee works together to select the articles to be reviewed.
The editors-in-chief and the editorial board evaluate articles submitted for publication on the basis of their content without regard to the authors' ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality or political affiliation.
The Editor-in-Chief of the magazine is bound by the requirements of applicable laws regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
ART. 5 SANCTIONS AND CONFLICTS
A member of the Scientific Review Board or an author who violates the principles of the Code of Ethics may no longer collaborate with Studi di Glottodidattica.
Any text that violates the above provisions will be removed from the journal and replaced by a notice stating that the text has been removed because it does not comply with Studi di Glottodidattica Code of Ethics for Publications.
The journal welcomes contributions in the form of comments or letters to the editor that seek to make an active contribution to the scientific debate on the topics and research of the published articles. It also welcomes reports of errors, breaches of scientific and ethical correctness, plagiarism, and any other conflicts, that may lead to changes and corrections to the published articles, or to their retraction.
However, if the scientific debate requires substantial revisions or new developments of the theses presented in the published articles, the authors may submit a new article to be evaluated by the scientific and editorial committee.
