Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Journal “Studi di Glottodidattica” 

General Standards

Texts submitted to Studi di Glottodidattica must be original and they cannot be submitted concomitantly to another journal. Essays may be written in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. Authors are required to prepare their texts strictly following these guidelines before sending them to studi.glottodidattica@uniba.it. Each text will be double-blind peer reviewed after being anonymised by the editorial board. Essays should not exceed 35,000 characters considering included spaces, references, tables, diagrams, and pictures. An abstract in English (max 1,500 characters) with keywords are required. It is also possible to submit reviews of recent volumes on topics relating to the fields of study to which the journal is devoted. Reviews must not exceed 5,000 characters including spaces.

 

Formatting

- A4 page format, Times New Roman, font size 12, simple space between lines, paragraphs with indentation on the first line of 1.25 cm, 2,5 cm margin (top, down, left, and right), format doc, docx, or rtf.

- The title of the article should be in bold, font size 14, and centred.

- Author, affiliation, and mail should appear just below the title, Times New Roman, font size 12.

- Abstract and Keywords must come before the first paragraph.

- Titles of the sections should come without indentation, with Arabic numerals, in bold and capitalized only at the beginning. Titles of sub-paragraphs will be italicized. Between the previous paragraph to the new one two blank lines must be left. After the title of paragraphs and between a paragraph and a subparagraph one blank line must be left.

-  Within the text, book titles should be italicized (uppercase only at the beginning, except in the case of proper names); and those of journal articles, in quotation marks.

-  Words that require translation or comments must be italicized, followed by translation or comments in quotation marks and parentheses.

-  Illustrations, graphs, and tables must have their source indicated if they were not produced by the author. Images and figures must have a minimum quality of 400 pixels, format .jpg.

- Footnotes must be only explanatory and they must appear with continued Arabic numbering throughout the text.

 

Citations

- Citations should follow the author-date system. Marks for quotations are “…” and not «…».

Examples: (Rossi 1998), (Rossi 1993; 1994), (Rossi 2006a; 2006b);

-          in case of quotations: (Rossi 1998: 134-135);

-          two authors: (Rossi, Bianchi 1998); more than 2 authors: (Rossi et al. 1998).

- Quotations over three lines must be separated from the body of text with double spacing, font size 11.

 

References

It must be included only the reference to the works mentioned in the text.

Basic forms of references are presented and exemplified below:

If any of the referenced works is available online, their data must necessarily be indicated: site address, presented between < > signals, preceded by the expression Available from:, and the access date of the document (abbreviated month, day, and full year, separated by space), preceded by the expression Access on:.
