The subject of the essay is the analysis of the historical and legislative evolution that have characterized the ways of acquiring Italian citizenship by migrants and foreigners. In this perspective, particular attention will be paid to double (or multiple) citizenship and to the conditions foreseen for the loss of citizenship and for being able to regain it. What are the activities necessary to be able to acquire Italian citizenship and what are the paths and times for the conclusion of the related bureaucratic procedures. Finally, in the light of the elements that emerge from the analysis, the problems that currently affect the right to acquire Citizenship will be considered.
