The concept of sustainability concerns the responsible use of resources, including cultural ones. This contribution explores whether this principle can be extended to dictionaries, as products of lexicography, by analysing the impact of sustainable development on French lexicography. The challenge is to reconcile material durability with linguistic evolution. Digital formats offer flexibility but require stable infrastructures. Collaboration is necessary to ensure a sustainable future for linguistic resources.
